Random PhilosophiesRelativism can be argued as an enemy of morals, though perhaps it could be better described as an oxymoron in disguise. After all, how would one consider a person who holds steadfastly to relativism as a value?
Internalisation is the adoptation of an external standard as one's own. Let the reader be aware of this principle, and no longer be led astray by prophets of self-identity. The danger lies in the premise that values are separate from the self. It sounds logical, yet a fundamental step that must take place is the recognition of one's prior acceptance and internalisation of the value i.e. I have ownership of this value. Then and only then can a divorce, amicable or otherwise, ensue. Consequently, one would require a new value as a substitute; the self would suffer a loss of identity without it. One cannot let go without holding onto something else; the abyss would consume one otherwise.
