Letter from Australia

This is a weekly update from Australia, written by a person who has a tendency to ramble (one of the main features of bloggers, maybe?). Inspired by the one and only Alistair Cooke, recently departed in April 2004, age 95.

God of Unity

Spiritual journey, pilgrimage, quest, haj
The deepest yearnings call out to the listening soul
Peace, tranquility, love, redemption
Miniscule fractions of Your true nature

What is the individual compared to all creation?
Yet you would redeem what others deem worthless
With the One whom you deem worthy to be heir
Blessed, blessed am I!

Time is but a loan from Your divine grace
Should I indulge further in waste and squalour?
Indeed works are but for our own sanctification
Use me for the bettermest of others

God of large things
God of little things
You LORD, are God of all
With whom should I follow?

The Season changes and Time passes
Life moves on yet Man chooses to linger
Wisdom does not realise the folly committed
Reality is but Illusion in disguise

There is nothing easy in Simplicity
Yet men engage in indulgent Complexity
Distracted from Truth itself
Mortals descend into the abyss

Words, the eternal overacheivers
Promise much but deliver precious little
The more they number, the less they convey
Rare is the man of few of these!

Words, the ancient pretenders
Feelings' kins they claim to be
Dawn breaks; mere orphans we see
Empty Letters call Isolation home

Words, the vagrant race
Nomads preying on falible souls
Settling on ears gullible
Perverting the heart's emotions

Words, the insidious rulers
Saints turn sinners from their wise counsel
Wars rage on from their divisive schemes
Rare is the craftsman who moulds them well!

Foolish Heart! Why art Thou so?
Thou holdeth back when Thou should have opened
Thou falleth when Time's end is nigh
Thou vexeth the Mind horribly so!

Thou hath tasted the sweet return
Of the One who ought to be
Yet chooseth to be apart
From the sustenance that embraceth Thee
